OysterNight will take place throughout New Orleans metro area restaurants beginning at lunch time on February 5th and continuing through dinner service. Describing it as, “A Celebration of the Protein that Built New Orleans,” Chefs Brigade (CB) is sponsoring the inaugural OysterNight and it is part of the Super Bowl Week leading up to the big game at the Superdome on Sunday, February 9.
More than 40 New Orleans area restaurants have already joined the promotion. There is no cost to participating restaurants and if your restaurant would like to be part of this New Orleans-wide bonanza, please contact us at info@chefsbrigade.org.
CB Executive Director Troy Gilbert says that OysterNight isn’t just a party, but it’s also about supporting our oyster fisheries and local restaurants.
“Chefs Brigade is already teaming up with NFL Green, the Super Bowl LIX Host Committee, CRCL, Force Blue, Verizon, and Entergy to build an oyster reef in Lafourche Parish using discarded oyster shells from restaurants,” says Gilbert. “But without our local oyster fishers and the restaurants serving these delicious bivalves, there would be no oyster shell recycling program, and fewer restored reefs. Let’s celebrate the oyster and everyone who helps bring them to our tables, and remember every oyster eaten on OysterNight goes towards saving our coast.”
