New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation (NOPJF) , a longtime Chefs Brigade (CB) partner, has been providing support to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) and other first responders since the New Year’s attack on Bourbon Street. NOPJF President and CEO Melanie Talia says that our police officers and first responders are under incredible pressure.
“They’re riding a rollercoaster of adrenaline and emotions,” says Talia. “That’s extremely difficult and that’s where we come in, supporting our officers and first responders, who are going beyond the call of duty.”
As part of their efforts, NOPJF will be using its “Critical Incident Fund” to assist the treatment and recovery of the NOPD officers who eliminated the threat, two of whom were shot, during the Bourbon Street attack. This fund is different from the Greater New Orleans Foundation’s New Orleans New Year’s Day Tragedy Fund, which will go towards helping the civilian victims and families.
To donate to the Critical Incident Fund, follow these steps:
CB has also been coordinating with NOPJF to provide coffee to all NOPD districts through a donation from Community Coffee. Working with restaurant partner, Felix’s Restaurant and Oyster Bar, CB will be feeding first responders in the French Quarter.
Talia adds that the public could also consider making a donation to NOPJF's “Adopt-A-Cop” fund, which helps provide food and supplies to first responders who are patrolling during parades and other special events.
