Eat Oysters, Save Our Coast

In coordination with NFL Green, the Super Bowl LIX Host Committee, Verizon, Entergy, Force Blue, and the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana: We are constructing an oyster reef in Lafourche Parish on February 3, 2025 utilizing oyster shells recycled from New Orleans restaurants. This reef will act as a barrier for coastal land loss at the site, and contribute to sustainable fisheries – the life blood of the New Orleans restaurant industry.

As part of this project, Chefs Brigade is organizing a city-wide OysterNight on Wednesday, February 5th to celebrate the New Orleans restaurant industry, our food service workers, Louisiana seafood, and the men and women of our Louisiana oyster fisheries, as well as to replenish the oyster shell stockpile used in constructing these reefs.

The reef-build and OysterNight are officially recognized events by the Super Bowl LIX Host Committee. By leveraging the attention and visibility of the Super Bowl, we plan to continue OysterNight as a legacy of the 2025 Super Bowl celebration, and promote as an annual city-wide event.
